Which would be the resonator and flex tube delete for the new van.
I got all the parts to delete the resonator, so I figured why not and got it piped between the throttle body and the flex pipe.
It took a 3.5" to 4" 45 coupler, a 4" to 4" 45 coupler, both of which needed about 1.25" trimmed off the adjoining sides, and a 2 pieces of 4" pipe ( 1 @ 3" for joining the 45s, 1 @ 1" for the flex tube ). I also had to cut a hole for the intake temp sensor, which I cut about .010" undersize so the temp sensor just “presses” into the hole.
I have the 4.5" to 4" 45 coupler on the way to delete the flex pipe as well.
After driving it all weekend with this installed, the results thus far are this:
1. Response is noticeably improved. When you touch the pedal now it wants to go immediately instead of “thinking” about it.
2. The engine feels much more spritely under 4k rpms with a noticeable bump around 3k. So much so that 2 of the hills on my way home it usually downshifts for it managed without.
3. Engine noise is slightly greater, but it isn’t really noticeable under normal driving. I do feel the flex pipe is helping keep the noise down some yet.

New van? I haven’t kept up. There was a unicorn sedan that you were lusting after some weeks back, but I did not realize you were looking at a van.
Vic news: I woke up yesterday with a painful case of buyer’s remorse. I was feeling like I wish I’d chucked the thing in the dumpster the morning after I’d gotten it home and just checked my losses right there. I am told that the time to sell a car is after tax refunds arrive. The market it glutted with Vics, pretty much all of them looking ten times better than mine, but none with as few of miles. I think about other things I could have bought with the money, things that I actually want , like a certain rifle, for instance, and I just feel kind of achy. So I’m going to paint it a solid color and carry out some steps to make it whole and daily driveable, make it a bit of a sleeper, and dump it. (I just found a 3.55 posi rear end for it, in bound later this week...) Then get back to Rusty.

Any plans to improve interior?

Replacing the flex piping would help as well, right? Sound is a concern like you said tho.

I’ve got the pipes ordered to get rid of it as well, needed to get this section finished so I could measure out for exactly what I needed.

Got it July 5th completely by accident.
You’re giving up! Never give up!

resonators are there to reduce droning, they don’t impede airflow.

I wouldn’t call it giving up. I’m still swapping the rear end and I’m still going to paint it, so I’ll still benefit from the new experiences there. I may still install a line lock as well. We just have so many cars and I have other things I want to pursue and I am paying for my impulse.
What did you ultimately decide about that unicorn sedan?
Full of the sound of the Gran Fury, signifying nothing.

Long_Voyager isn’t the only Pentastar owner than has seen notable differences after replac ing the stock intake tract with straight piping. They all noticed that 1) it was definitely louder, and 2) throttle response was markedly improved, in spite of typical throttle-by-wire lag. While the stock intake resonators do a great job reducing noise on the Pentastar, it seems that the intake is restrictive.

Without actually having before/after dyno results, I’m going to chalk that up to placebo. Air flow doesn’t work that way, if the inlet duct was affecting throttle response that drastically you’d be experiencing a lot of other symptoms too. Resonators don’t work that way either; they’re simply a tuned closed chamber which generates an out-of-phase resonance at a problem frequency to cancel out drone. They can’t affect airflow because they’re not in the air flow.
Placebo is how grifters make a lot of money selling nonsense “fuel saving” devices or silly crap like intake vortex generators. You
expect
to see/feel a difference, so you convince yourself that you do.

The owner ended up selling it the same day I found it, so I missed out.

The Resonator on the Pentastar directs the airflow back into itself, reducing flow, velocity, and noise at the same time.

They can’t affect airflow because they’re not in the air flow.
They are directly in airflow on the Pentastar and they are filled with vanes to direct the airflow back into itself.
That whole unit is the resonator.

You probably reported that here and I missed it.
Solid color for Crappy Vic is going to be the middle blue-gray from the Dazzle measure. I’m thinking I’ll mask and paint a section at a time, like one side, or the hood, or the roof.

From what I read that actually helps air flow into the intake by giving the pressure waves created by the engine that push against the inflow an area to dissipate. https://itstillruns.com/air-intake-resonator-do-12156112.html

In this instance it’s a dyno proven 6-8 hp/12-15 ftlb killer.
